Following yesterday's story on ALL ACCESS that STARBUCKS was planning to launch its own record label (NET NEWS 3/12) comes news that STARBUCKS and CONCORD MUSIC GROUP have formed a joint record label called HEAR MUSIC, the same name used for the STARBUCKS compilation discs. The new venture will release its first CD toward the end of the year and intends to release a minimum of eight albums per year.
The label will be based in LOS ANGELES, with STARBUCKS ENTERAINMENT Pres. KEN LOMBARD as Chief Manager and CONCORD Pres. GLEN BARROS handling day-to-day activities. The staff will comprise current CONCORD and STARBUCKS employees.
LOMBARD said, "This announcement is a natural next step in our entertainment strategy."
