The shooting happened in the MASQUERADE NIGHTCLUB in ATLANTA’s UNDERGROUND complex on NOVEMBER 12th, 2017. A gunman opened fire during prior to the concert performance by COUSIN STIZZ, injuring four people and killing two. The families of the victims who were killed filed a lawsuit through the BEASLEY ALLEN LAW FIRM naming SONY, its record label RCA RECORDS, and concert venues LIVE NATION and MASQUERADE as defendants. A DEKALB COUNTY, GEORGIA jury awarded $160 million against SONY for its role in failing to protect patrons at the concert.
In a statement, BEASLEY ALLEN commented on the verdict, saying, “Obviously, these types of cases do not come around often. This was a mass shooting in a crowded concert. There were multiple deaths, and GIO (GIOVAN DIAZ) and WELLS (EWELL YNOA) suffered significantly before losing their fight for life, as eyewitnesses outlined. The trial was incredibly emotional because of what these families, and the world, lost.”
