The next in the series of "Town Hall" specials on TOWNSQUARE MEDIA News-Talk WKXW (NEW JERSEY 101.5)/TRENTON will examine crime in the GARDEN STATE.
"RISING CRIME IN NEW JERSEY," airing THURSDAY (1/19) at 7p (ET), will be hosted by ERIC SCOTT, who said in a press release, “Quality of life across NEW JERSEY is being impacted by a rise in many types of crime. We have assembled a panel of state, federal, and local law enforcement experts, analysts, and victim’s right groups to figure out what can be done.”
The law-enforcement-heavy panel will include MONMOUTH COUNTY Sheriff SHAUN GOLDEN, NEW JERSEY STATE POLICEMEN'S BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION VP MICHAEL FREEMAN, STAFFORD TWP. Police Chief THOMAS DELLANE, FBI Agent JAMES DENNEHY, COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY Professor DAVID MAZELKA, and MARLBORO TWP. Mayor JONATHAN HORNIK, along with victims' rights groups representatives.
Despite the special's title and premise, NEW JERSEY's violent crime rate based on FBI statistics is the fifth lowest rate of violent crimes in the nation, and property crime rates the fourth lowest in AMERICA, with both rates declining in recent years.
