FLO RIDA has won his lawsuit against an energy drink company which he contended breached his endorsement contract. The SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL reports that a BROWARD COUNTY, FL jury awarded the Hip-Hop star (a/k/a TRAMAR DILLARD) $82.6 million in damages from CELSIUS HOLDINGS, with whom FLO RIDA and his STRONG ARM PRODUCTIONS were contracted for endorsements in 2014.
The jury took two days to deliberate over the verdict; the damages were partially calculated based on the verdict that FLO RIDA is entitled to 1% of the company but that since the company cannot be ordered to turn over stock, the value of the stock could be awarded in its stead.
The contract, under which CELSIUS products were featured in FLO RIDA videos and a drink was named "FLO Fusion," gave FLO RIDA the right to CELSIUS stock and bonuses once the company hit a benchmark of sales, but CELSIUS contended that the benchmarks were reached after the deal expired and were the result of other business decisions. The jury found that the company had instead concealed its success from FLO RIDA to avoid having to pay the artist.
