March 22, 2007 at 8:11 PM (PT)
DAVIDSON MEDIA Pres. PETER DAVIDSON says, "Although we have been satisfied with the performance of the four stations that we announce we are selling today, we have sold them to deploy more dollars into the Hispanic radio market. DMG is now in 23 markets with leading Hispanic-formatted stations, and we think there is continued opportunity both within our existing markets and in new markets in our core business, Spanish-language radio."
RHODE ISLAND PUBLIC RADIO is also buying noncommercial WRNI-A/PROVIDENCE from BOSTON UNIVERSITY. A previous attempt by B.U. to sell WRNI and sister WXNI-A./WESTERLY drew loud opposition from public radio supporters in RHODE ISLAND; B.U. will spin off WXNI once the sale is consummated.EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION is selling a construction permit it hasn't yet closed on purchasing, WDAH/SHENANDOAH, PA, to FAMILY LIFE MINISTRIES for $800,000 ($725,000 cash, $75,000 in an interest-free promissory note). EMF is buying the CP from AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION in a deal which has not yet closed.
And In Other Sales
In another deal filed with the FCC, AUGUSTA RADIO FELLOWSHIP INSTITUTE INC. is selling the construction permit for FM translator W230AS/CHESTERFIELD, SC to PEE DEE BROADCASTING LLC for $400.
