The RADIO ONE Gospel KROI (PRAISE 92.1)/HOUSTON-based "YOLANDA ADAMS Morning Show" is now being syndicated to Gospel sisters WPZE (PRAISE 97.5)/ATLANTA; WTHB-A & F/AUGUSTA, GA; WPZZ (PRAISE 104.7)/RICHMOND; WNNL (THE LIGHT 103.9)/RALEIGH; WPZS (PRAISE 100.9)/CHARLOTTE; WPZZ (PRAISE 103.9)/PHILADELPHIA; WJMO-A/Cleveland; WJYD (JOY 106.3)/COLUMBUS, OH; and WTLC-A (AM1310 THE LIGHT)/INDIANAPOLIS, the HOUSTON CHRONICLE reports.
"We're just excited about the possibilities that it will bring, not just to HOUSTON, but to the rest of the country," ADAMS told the paper. "TOM JOYNER and STEVE HARVEY have always had their own shows, but there's never been a gospel person that has had their own [daily] syndicated national show.
"There will be an 800 number. People will be able to call us here. This is very groundbreaking."
RADIO ONE Regional Director DOUG ABERNATHY said, ""The significance of this is [it shows] how contemporary inspirational music stations are becoming more secular. Finding talent for a lot of these inspirational stations is a challenge. The person needs to believe in the message, and they should be a Christian, considering the audience. It's not like trying to find a rap or hip-hop deejay. This person really has to be connected to the music and the programming."
