No one is surprised when a celebrity hires a PR firm, but what about a radio company? What do you do when your top managers are some of the leading strategists in your industry, but not enough people know that? That's the challenge EMMIS/CHICAGO, home of Alternative WKQX (Q101.1) and Classic Rock WLUP (THE LOOP), claim to face.
"We know it's different for radio stations to go out and hire PR experts," said EMMIS RVP MARV NYREN. "But because what we're doing is so different, it really qualifies as newsworthy. We're taking singularly unique approaches in both our programming and marketing, and we are prepared to talk about it."
EMMIS has hired MWW GROUP to implement corporate communications initiatives for the two CHICAGO stations. The firm will lead an executive branding campaign to raise the profile of each station's key executives as industry thought leaders in areas such as fully integrated and implemented 360-degree marketing and the latest in PPM radio technology.
