FISHER RADIO Talk KVI-A/SEATTLE is close to its goal of raising $100,000 for an on-campus memorial to eight Medal of Honor recipients who attended the UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON.
Generous donations from morning host KIRBY WILBUR's audience, TRIWEST HEALTHCARE ALLIANCE, and local philanthropist BRUCE MCCAW have brought the drive close to its goal with a day left to go in the fundraising campaign. WILBUR broke the story leading to the memorial project last year after controversy arose from a proposal to honor legendary WORLD WAR II pilot, Medal of Honor recipient, and UW alumnus GREGORY "PAPPY" BOYINGTON. Over the last two mornings, WILBUR's audience has donated $22,000 to the memorial project, with TRIWEST matching those donations up to $25,000 and MCCAW making a personal $25,000 donation of his own.
Iâ??m constantly amazed at the generosity of our audience. Weâ??re really close to reaching our goal and creating a memorial to a group of heroic Americans a reality.
