Rogers Buys CHUM Spinoff TV Stations

ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS is buying the A-CHANNEL TV stations, three cable networks, and a CBC affiliate in MANITOBA, all being spun off by CTVGLOBEMEDIA in order for the latter to buy CHUM LTD.
ROGERS, the cable, cell phone, and radio giant, is buying the six A-CHANNEL stations, CKVR-TV/BARRIE-TORONTO, CHRO-TV/PEMBROKE-OTTAWA, CIVI-TV/VICTORIA, CHWI-TV/WHEATLEY-WINDSOR, ON, CFPL-TV/LONDON, and CKNX-TV/WINGHAM, ON, plus CBC affiliate CKX-TV/BRANDON, MB, CANADIAN LEARNING TELEVISION, SEX TV, and ACCESS ALBERTA for C$137.5 million.
ROGERS presently owns CANADA's largest cell phone company and largest cable operator, over 70 magazines, multicultural independents CFMT-TV (OMNI.1) and CJMT-TV (OMNI.2)/TORONTO and religion/independent CHNU-TV (OMNI.10)/FRASER VALLEY-VANCOUVER and CIIT-TV (OMNI.11)/WINNIPEG as well as 46 radio stations, ROGERS SPORTSNET, THE SHOPPING CHANNEL, BIOGRAPHY CHANNEL CANADA, and interests in other cable networks.
