ARBITRON announced that leading broadcasters in ICELAND have selected the ARBITRON PORTABLE PEOPLE METER (PPM) as the audience measurement currency system for both radio and television. This makes ICELAND the first country to take full advantage of the PPM system’s multimedia measurement capabilities.
The PPM technology, which was evaluated in field trial in ICELAND, was selected over a "wristwatch meter" system proposed by SWISS-based TELECONTROL, a GFK subsidiary.
ARBITRON Pres./Sales & Marketing PIERRE BOUVARD said, "We are extremely gratified that ICELAND’s broadcasters have the foresight to take full advantage of the PPM system’s ability to deliver multimedia audience estimates from a single panel. With multimedia data from the PPM panel, broadcasters and advertisers can gain new insights into how their audiences use and flow between both media."
