Legendary LOS ANGELES morning man RICK DEES was inducted into the NAB's Broadcasting Hall of Fame. DEES, now handling mornings (and shaking his butt in the commercials) for KMVN (MOVIN 93.9)/LOS ANGELES, previously did mornings at crosstown KIIS and KHJ-A after his success in MEMPHIS.
CNET.COM Editor-at-Large BRIAN COOLEY delivered the luncheon's keynote address, demonstrating the effects of audience "fracture" and competition from new Net-connected devices like the SANSA CONNECT and SLACKER portables, stereo Bluetooth-connected devices for use in cars, and the upcoming iPhone and INTEL MID. COOLEY energetically covered the onset of TV phones and portable devices as well as Internet services and satellite video in cars and offered his pros and cons analysis of HD RADIO and satellite radio.
