Canadian Aboriginal Stations Get Short-Term Renewals From CRTC
April 30, 2007 at 5:46 AM (PT)
The CRTC has renewed the licenses of four ABORIGINAL VOICES RADIO stations but imposed a shorter term for the renewals to allow the Commission to monitor programming compliance.
A CRTC monitor of CKAV/TORONTO found that the station may have been in noncompliance with its 25% spoken-word commitment, and the station was also foound to be out of compliance with logget tape filings and timely filing of accurate returns.
The ruling gives CKAV and sister stations CKAV-FM-2/VANCOUVER, CKAV-FM-3/CALGARY, and CKAV-FM-9/OTTAWA short-term three-year renewals expiring AUGUST 31, 2010.
