Murdoch Sets Sights On Dow Jones

RUPERT MURDOCH's NEWS CORP. has launched an unsolicited bid for DOW JONES, publisher of the WALL STREET JOURNAL and BARRON'S. The bid, for $5 billion, is being considered by DOW JONES controlling shareholders the BANCROFT family, with the company noting in a statement, "There can be no assurance that this evaluation will lead to any transaction."
Through the JOURNAL, DOW JONES also provides radio programming on the WALL STREET JOURNAL RADIO NETWORK.
