Station Sales: Radio One Buys LMA Partner, Price Set For Davidson Charlotte Deal

RADIO ONE is buying Talk WDBZ-A (THE BUZZ)/CINCINNATI from BLUE CHIP COMMUNICATIONS, INC. for $2.65 million. RADIO ONE has been programming the station under an LMA since AUGUST 2001.
In other transactions filed with the FCC, WFEB/SYLACAUGA, AL is being involuntarily transferred from ALABAMA BROADCASTING CO. into receivership by the CIRCUIT COURT of TALLADEGA COUNTY, AL, with JOHN BODIFORD named receiver. The receivership arose from a suit by W.O. POWERS against the licensee after POWERS, who was buying the station, discovered a tax liability owed by the licensee that precluded the sale.
The formal filing of DAVIDSON MEDIA's purchase of impending CHARLOTTE move-in WAGI/GAFFNEY, SC from GAFFNEY BROADCASTING shows a price of $22 million for the station and sister daytimer WEAC-A, which will be spun off separately to Station Manager DENNIS FOWLER.
BIG BEND BROADCASTING is selling the construction permit for FM translator K251AU/ALBUQUERQUE to MARIA CANDELARIA for $75,000. And BIBLE BROADCASTING NETWORK, INC. is selling the CP for translator K265DV/TEMPLE, TX to NEW STREAMS MINISTRY, INC. for $10,000.
