Baghdad Talk Station Torched By Terrorists

An independent radio station in BAGHDAD was destroyed by alleged al Qaeda terrorists last FRIDAY, and American talk hosts are being asked to help get the station back on the air.
RADIO DIJLA, founded by AHMED RIKABI, was attacked by armed men on THURSDAY, but staffers and security turned them back, with one guard killed and two wounded; the next night, the station was set on fire by arsonists. The station has been providing IRAQ with a rare open dialogue with all opinions welcome, and has been profiled by several major news organizations since its debut.
RADIO EQUALIZER blogger BRIAN MALONEY is trying to get talk hosts to help publicize the plight of the station while the operators determine what they'll need to get things going again. Read MALONEY's coverage of the situation by clicking here, and contact him at RadioEqualizer@aol.com.
