FCC Rejects Objection To CC-3 Daughters Deal

The FCC has rejected the Petition to Deny by CENTENNIAL LICENSING LLC, licensee of Talk WLNI/LYNCHBURG, VA, to the sale of WNGA/SOUTH PITTSBURG, TN; WUUS-A/ROSSVILLE, GA; WGMN-A/ROANOKE, VA; and WVGM-A/LYNCHBURG, VA, plus two FM translators, by CLEAR CHANNEL to GARY BURNS' 3 DAUGHTERS MEDIA.
CENTENNIAL objected based on a separate case involving an alleged breach of a consulting and non-competition agreement by BURNS when he bought WBLT-A/BEDFORD-LYNCHBURG, VA and flipped it to Talk (it later flipped to Oldies, then Sports). CENTENNIAL won a permanent injunction against BURNS in JUNE 2006, an appeal of which is pending. The Commission ruled that the WBLT case does not establish a reason to deny the sale of the other stations to BURNS.
