Independent music publisher EVERGREEN COPYRIGHTS is expected to announce today that it has acquired full control of the writer's share of late rapper TUPAC SHAKUR's song catalog, its 12th and most visible deal to date, reports THE NEW YORK POST.
While UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP still owns the publishing rights to TUPAC's work and retains authority over licensing it for commercial use, the deal gives EVERGREEN financial participation in an artist who has sold 67 million albums worldwide and has appeared three times on FORBES' list of the "Top Earning Dead Celebrities."
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but a source said the purchase price was between $5 million and $10 million.
