The COPYRIGHT ALLIANCE, comprised of representatives from the commerce, arts and academic communities hoping to convince lawmakers and the public that copyrights are vital and need protection, will be unveiled today (5/17) at the Reserve Officers Building on CAPITOL HILL, according to the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
"Intellectual property is under attack," said folk singer-songwriter TOM PAXTON, a member of the ALLIANCE. "A lot of people think about it. They think, 'Well, it's just music and not worth protecting.' To us, it's a living. We make this the same way a cabinetmaker makes a chest."
PAXTON is joined in the ALLIANCE by songwriters LAMONT DOZIER, TIM O'BRIEN and STEVE CROPPER and ECONOMICS INC.'s STEVE SIWEK; PATRIC ROSS is Exec. Director. There are 29 member organizations, including AFTRA and the WALT DISNEY CO.
