AMBER POPE, who exited as Marketing Director of ENTERCOM/DENVER last year, died yesterday. She was 36. The exact cause of death was not confirmed at press time. POPE worked at several DENVER stations as well as in SAN FRANCISCO.
ALL ACCESS has obtained a memo from KEZW/DENVER Station Manager/PD RICK CRANDALL regarding's POPE's death: "By now most of you have heard that AMBER POPE passed away yesterday. The one word that everyone seems to use to describe it is 'tragic.' It's sad when anyone dies. It's harder when it's a young person, and it makes you mad when it shouldn't have happened at all.
Her laugh was infectious, her office snacks were legendary, and she loved to have a good time.
"It's been a year since AMBER left ENTERCOM, and I know many of you didn't know her. Your idea of who she was is colored by the addiction she fought. That's why I thought it was important to send this email. That's not the person you should remember.
"AMBER gave several people who are in this building their start in radio. She was understanding of people's shortcomings and allowed them to grow. She made our sometimes dysfunctional business a little easier to work in.
"For others of us she was a source of information. That girl knew everything about everyones business! And she seemed to know everyone in the business. Her laugh was infectious, her office snacks were legendary, and she loved to have a good time.
"We all have our addictions, our vices, but fortunately we live through them. Count your blessings. And please remember the AMBER that brought a little sun into a lot of lives."
