KTSA-A & KJXK Back On After Fire

WOAI-TV reports BORDER MEDIA PARTNERS News KTSA-A/SAN ANTONIO is back on the air after the building that used to house the station went up in flames. As of 10p, firefighters were still battling that fire off of EISENHAUER Road on the northeast side. That’s not the building that KTSA and sister Adult Hits KJXK (JACK FM) broadcast out of now -- they're in a newer building closer to the road that was not affected by the fire. However, behind it are the old KTSA studios that were used until the early 1980s. The building is currently being used for storage. No employees work there, and no one was hurt.
"Just as of last week, we did a walk-through in the old building to see what the possibility would be to renovate it and store out broadcast transmitters," Dir./Operations GREG MARTIN told NEWS 4 WOAI’s JEFF COYLE. "That's where they once sat. Of course, that's not an option anymore at this point."
Firefighters have not yet determined what started the fire. The building did have electricity. One of KTSA's four radio towers is very close to the building on fire. Firefighters asked them to turn that tower off. That's why the station was off the air WEDNESDAY night.
