Outspoken NORTHAMPTON COUNTY Councilman RON ANGLE signed off for the last time from his morning talk radio show on TIMMER Variety WGPA-A/ALLENTOWN THURSDAY, ending a 3 1/2-year run behind the microphone at the BETHLEHEM-based AM radio station, reports THE ALLENTOWN MORNING CALL. Station owner JOE TIMMER said ANGLE's departure capped long-running disagreements.
"He's finished," TIMMER said. "I can't stand the guy. I'll miss him like a hole in the head." He said ANGLE's departure has been "a long time coming." ANGLE said jealousy was at the root of the rift.
"He was a polka star years ago," ANGLE said. "Polka has come and went. His listeners are very, very minimal. I had a show that had an astronomical amount of listeners and generated revenue. He became jealous."
TIMMER could not provide figures on how many people listened to the show on "SUNNY 1100," as the station is known.
