Report: Hutton Buys KBAC/Santa Fe

HUTTON BROADCASTING, which recently announced that it was purchasing Variety KWRP (INDIE 101.5) and Chill KLBU (BLU 102)/PECOS-SANTA FE, NM, is stepping in to buy a third local SANTA FE station, buying AAA KBAC (RADIO FREE SANTA FE) for an undisclosed price as it gets spun off by EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION, which is buying KBAC and Jazz KSFQ (THE CAT) from CLEAR CHANNEL.
The SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN reports that HUTTON stepped in to buy KBAC when the eclectic station's management -- GM IRA GORDON, GSM LISA CLARK, and KBAC morning host HONEY HARRIS, plus crosstown noncommercial KSFR GM DAL DEARMIN and DEARMIN's brother TOM -- lost their financing to buy the station. GORDON, CLARK, and HARRIS will remain with the HUTTON cluster; SCOTT MATTHEWS will be Program Manager for KWRP. HUTTON already owns KVSF-A/SANTA FE and KQBA/LOS ALAMOS in the market.
