PILLAR OF FIRE Christian AC WAWZ (STAR 99.1)/NEW YORK morning show JOHNNY STONE IN THE MORNING sent out its resident “funny guy” DAVID A. DEIN dressed as NOAH to collect gift cards or money for gift cards to give families affected by the APRIL 15-16 Nor’easter that flooded more than 50,000 homes.
INO RECORDS, EMI CMG, CURB RECORDS and PATTON ENTERTAINMENT also joined WAWZ, trading CDs for donations, and the local CLEARVIEW CINEMAS provided movie tickets for the upcoming movie "EVAN ALMIGHTY" to those who helped out.
PD/morning host JOHNNY STONE came up with the idea to send “NOAH” out three mornings per week for four weeks to neighborhoods in BROOKLYN, STATEN ISLAND and NEW JERSEY to help those who can’t help themselves. “NOAH is a beloved story in the Bible of redemption and God’s promises, so we thought it was a great way to motivate people to come out and give," he says.
In addition to NOAH, yesterday (5/31) AT&T TELECOM PIONEERS partnered with FOOT LOCKER stores to donate $10,000 in FOOT LOCKER gift cards to the WAWZ flood relief program. Starting next week, the station will auction two acoustic guitars on EBAY for flood relief funds. The guitars were signed by numerous artists. On JUNE 21, ECHOING ANGELS and NATE SALLIE will perform at ZAREPHATH CHRISTIAN CHURCH to raise more funds for the families.
