LeAnn Rimes Makes One Veterans Day

CURB/ASYLUM artist LeANN RIMES has once again partnered with the COALITION TO SALUTE AMERICA'S HEROES to help out a disabled veteran. PETER REID was wounded in a 2004 mortar attack in IRAQ that left the NAVY SEABEE with a brain injury, partial paralysis, blindness in one eye and bits of shrapnel still lodged in his body. Since he is now dependent on a motorized wheelchair and it takes two people to lift him in and out of his van, REID has not left his PALM BAY, FL house in months.
All of that changed when REID and his wife, MICHELE, both avid Country music fans, attended the CMA MUSIC FEST in NASHVILLE courtesy of the COALITION. While at a fan-club breakfast for their favorite artist, RIMES, they were presented the keys to a brand new wheelchair-accessible CHEVY van. When asked about their feelings for the Country music songbird, REID said, "She's wonderful. She walked up to me like I was part of her family. She said, 'Pete, come with me. I have something for you.' I went out, and there was the van. It was quite a surprise."
