MADISON SQUARE GARDEN's MSG MEDIA inks a multi-year renewal with ABC Sports WEPN-A (1050 ESPN RADIO)/NEW YORK for the station to continue as the flagship for NEW YORK KNICKS basketball and NEW YORK RANGERS hockey. The renewal is effective with the teams' 2007-08 seasons.
"We're excited to renew our partnership with 1050 ESPN RADIO, and all the unique marketing and promotional opportunities that come with being involved with such a world-renowned brand," said MSG MEDIA President MICHAEL BAIR. "It allows two of the strongest brands in sports, MSG and ESPN, to continue to build on a relationship that has served NEW YORK sports fans, the most astute in the world, with the highest quality radiocasts in the country."
"We’re proud and excited to continue our partnership with the GARDEN and help deliver great memories to a new generation of KNICKS and RANGERS fans," added WEPN VP/GM TIM MCCARTHY. "The KNICKS and RANGERS are among the most well-known brands in sports and this agreement demonstrates 1050 ESPN RADIO’s commitment to bringing our listeners the best local sports product. NEW YORK-area fans have high expectations for the teams’ on-court and on-ice success next season and we’re excited that 1050 continues to join 'The World’s Most Famous Arena' as the KNICKS and RANGERS address.”
And MSG SPORTS Pres./COO STEVE MILLS said, "ESPN RADIO has been a terrific partner, and the KNICKS and RANGERS are thrilled to renew their relationship with them. After two years, fans have really noticed the effort and professionalism that ESPN brings to every radiocast, and we look forward to the continued energy that they bring to every game." The teams moved to WEPN two years ago from crosstown CBS Sports WFAN-A, which now carries the NEW JERSEY NETS and NEW JERSEY DEVILS broadcasts.
