In an effort to raise awareness to a critical need, a series of concerts are being organized for heritage KNAC/LOS ANGELES (now KNAC.COM) air personality TAWN MASTREY, says a posting on the internet station's website.
Recently, TAWN's sister, CARA, sent e-mails to several KNAC.COM people describing her sister's dire need for a liver transplant due to an advanced case of Hepatitus C, and a plan to put on a "major concert" to raise needed funds for her sister.
TAWN, known as the "LEATHER NUN" on the air at KNAC in the 80's, continued to work at several other U.S. radio stations, and most recently at SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO, a job she's had to quit due to her health.
The first, of what will likely be a series of benefit concerts is taking shape in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. Tentatively it's being held at MARTINI BLUES in HUNTINGTON BEACH on JULY 28. More information on this and other events will be on a website currently under construction at TawnMastreyBenefit.com.
