Sydney-Area Station Loses License

The AUSTRALIAN COMMUNICATIONS AND MEDIA AUTHORITY has denied the license renewal of BANKSTOWN CITY RADIO COOPERATIVE LTD. for Ethnic community station 2BCR (BFM)/BANKSTOWN (SYDNEY).
The move was attributed to the station airing mostly programming aimed at the SYDNEY area's Indian community, which primarily lives outside the station's BANKSTOWN-AUBURN service area. The station can apply for a temporary license, likely on a shared-time basis with other stations.
