Clear Channel From Carolina To Kansas Helps Greensburg Celebrate July 4

Seven GREENSBORO "good ol' boys" (actually, attorneys and other professionals) who call themselves THE PIGMASTERS want to help residents of tornado-ravaged GREENSBURG, KS make new memories by bringing them an old-fashioned, small-town AMERICA FOURTH OF JULY community picnic. THE PIGMASTERS are driving from GREENSBORO to GREENSBURG to personally roast 10 whole pigs in fire pits, enough to feed 1,000 people, with all the fixins' on the side, on JULY 4 at 4p at DAVIS PARK in GREENSBURG, the only park not destroyed by the MAY 4 tornado.
To get the ball rolling for the event, THE PIGMASTERS made a few phone calls -- one of which was to former CLEAR CHANNEL/WICHITA and current CLEAR CHANNEL/GREENSBORO and RALEIGH Market Manager DICK HARLOW. He then called his former assistant in WICHITA, SUSAN MONEYPENNY, to see if WICHITA stations could help get the word out to KANSAS communities.
"What a wonderful and generous gesture of our neighbors in NORTH CAROLINA to provide for our friends in GREENSBURG," said current CC/WICHITA Market Manager Tom GLADE. "The least we could do is help broadcast the message to GREENSBURG residents to come home for the 4th of JULY!"
Starting tomorrow, Country KZSN/WICHITA morning show host DON HALL will start getting the word out; he has live interviews scheduled each morning to talk to HARLOW, a PIGMASTERS rep and others helping to organize the event. THE PIGMASTERS will also appear tomorrow on AC WMAG/GREENSBORO, which is soliciting donations to help finance the project.
AC KRBB, Classic Rock KTHR, and Top 40 KZCH/WICHITA will be airing promotional announcements, and CC/WICHITA is sending produced promotional announcements to radio stations closer to the GREENSBURG area.
