The BOSTON HERALD's JESSICA HESLAM is reporting on the paper's website that her sources are saying that ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A/BOSTON afternoon star HOWIE CARR is jumping to rival GREATER MEDIA Talk WTKK (96.9 FM TALK) to take over the morning slot left vacant when DON IMUS' syndicated show was cancelled in APRIL. HESLAM reports that CARR's contract at WRKO expires in SEPTEMBER, and he will join WTKK under a multi-year contract.
CARR, who is also a longtime columnist for the HERALD, has been harshly critical of WRKO management and its decision to hire former MASSACHUSETTS House Speaker TOM FINNERAN for mornings.
WRKO: Carr's Ours
Late MONDAY, WRKO responded to the reports by issuing a statement through spokesman GEORGE REGAN, who said, "HOWIE CARR is under contract to ENTERCOM. He is a tremendous asset to WRKO and ENTERCOM has every intention of retaining his services for many years to come."
