Q&A With Emmis CEO Jeff Smulyan
July 16, 2007 at 5:44 AM (PT)
A Q&A session with EMMIS CEO JEFF SMULYAN has been posted on the company's website. In it, SMULYAN addresses the challanges of the NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES markets.
SMULYAN says, "In LOS ANGELES, the strategy is to build on [Rhythmic AC KMVN] MOVIN's early numbers with an extensive marketing push to drive awareness of the new brand -- we see a hole in the market for this kind of format. We're encouraged by the latest trends we've seen, and we see the RICK DEES morning show as an opportunity. That focus on MOVIN', along with the rejuvenation of [Top 40/Rhythmic] POWER 106, should help us dramatically in LOS ANGELES and should be a major catalyst for the company. In NEW YORK, the strategy is to improve the products. Our last Arbitrend at [Urban AC WRKS] KISS was very good. We're also focused on developmental selling, which has improved our local sales numbers, and we're working with our rep firm to reinvigorate our national sales."
