UMG Looks To China For Growth

UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP is focusing on CHINA for growth and has signed two significant deals aimed at boosting its presence in the mainland CHINESE market, reports VARIETYASIAONLINE.COM.
UMG signed an exclusive licensing agreement with the CHINESE record label, DONG MUSIC INTERNATIONAL and has also inked a pact to promote and distribute TAIWANESE pop artists signed to LINFAIR RECORDS throughout CHINA. UNIVERSAL said the focus of the deal would be to break new CHINESE artists and the partnership will bow with the compilation album "Dong Le Yuan" ("Dong Music Land"), featuring 12 tracks by four singers and two bands, and will stage a 20-city campus tour around CHINA in SEPTEMBER.
