MEDIABAY, INC., the old-time radio programming owner and supplier, will shut down by early SEPTEMBER as attempts to find a buyer for the troubled company have failed. The company, which distributed audiobooks and old-time radio shows in various media, plans to liquidate its assets, which include the rights to a library of classic radio programs, at auction.
The shutdown will also affect the syndicated "WHEN RADIO WAS" program, which the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES' ROBERT FEDER reports has ceased producing new episodes. And the company was a provider of old-time radio programming to SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO, XM SATELLITE RADIO, and MSN MUSIC, among other outlets.
