Former UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS quarterback KURT KITTNER is joining the ILLINI football radio team as analyst, replacing HOWARD GRIFFITH, who took the job in MAY but is exiting to join the BIG TEN NETWORK as studio host. The slot became open after last season when longtime analyst JIM GRABOWSKI retired. KITTNER has been working in commercial real estate in CHICAGO; he will work alongside returning play-by-play man BRIAN BARNHART.
"KURT is someone who is very passionate about the UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS and our football program," ILLINOIS head coach RON ZOOK said. "He has been very supportive of this team and coaching staff. He is extremely knowledgeable about the game and will bring great insight."
"I'm very happy with this opportunity to represent ILLINOIS and the football team," added KITTNER. "Coach ZOOK is getting the program where he wants it. The overall atmosphere is going to be great and I'm excited to be a part of it."
The ILLINI air on a network that includes WDWS-A and WHMS/CHAMPAIGN, WIND-A/CHICAGO, and KFNS-A and KRFT-A/ST. LOUIS.
