AFTRA Elects Officers, Seeks Direct AFL-CIO Affiliation

Delegates to AFTRA's national convention in PHILADELPHIA made it official and elected ROBERTA REARDON as the union's President. REARDON has been serving as acting President for three months and succeeds JOHN CONNOLLY.
XM SATELLITE RADIO's BOB EDWARDS was re-elected as National First VP, and LOS ANGELES chapter President RON MORGAN has been chosen as National Second VP. DENNY DELK, HOLTER GRAHAM, DICK KAY, BOB BUTLER, CATHERINE BROWN, JIM FERGUSON, and SHELBY SCOTT were tapped as national VPs, MATT KIMBROUGH was voted National Treasurer, and LAINIE COOK was voted National Recording Secretary.
The union has also voted to pursue a direct affiliation with the AFL-CIO. AFTRA is presently indirectly affiliated with the AFL-CIO through the ASSOCIATED ACTORS AND ARTISTES OF AMERICA.
