Report: Imus, CBS Near Settlement

The NEW YORK POST's PETER LAURIA is reporting in FRIDAY's editions that DON IMUS and CBS RADIO are close to a settlement that will have CBS buy out the remaining portion of IMUS' contract. LAURIA reports that the sides "have agreed in principle" to a deal that would end the litigation between the parties, but that "CBS is dragging its feet on making the deal official until it can sign BOOMER ESIASON to a contract to take over IMUS' old morning slot on WFAN."
Sources tell LAURIA that IMUS' people have "reached out" to BUCKLEY (owner of Talk WOR-A/NEW YORK), CITADEL (owner of Talk WABC-A/NEW YORK), and CLEAR CHANNEL to get IMUS back on the air, and that while CBS' LES MOONVES said IMUS would not return, his company is "looking to retain an option to do something with IMUS over the next few months so they can match any other offers he might get."
