ABC RADIO NETWORKS has inked EMMIS Top 40/Rhythmic KPWR (POWER 106)/LOS ANGELES morning man BIG BOY to a syndication deal. The show will launch into syndication AUGUST 20 6-10a in all time zones. The deal also includes the weekly "BIG BOY'S HIP HOP SPOT" show, presently syndicated to 25 markets, which will change its name to the same as the weekday show's, "BIG BOY'S NEIGHBORHOOD," after AUGUST 25.
"We're extremely excited about our partnership with BIG BOY," said ABC RADIO NETWORKS EVP/Multicultural DARRYL BROWN. "It's very rare to have a personality that can re-define morning drive for affiliates across the country. BIG BOY is a proven force and he's gotten it done book after book in one of radio's toughest markets, LOS ANGELES."
"We are thrilled that BIG BOY and ABC have entered into an agreement," EMMIS SVP/Radio VAL MAKI said. "Given BIG's enormous talent it was inevitable that he move into the national syndication scene. We continue to enjoy the success that BIG BOY and POWER 106 have had together, and we look forward to many more years together as his flagship station."
EMMIS VP/Programming JIMMY STEAL added, "We knew it was just a matter of time before BIG BOY was nationally syndicated. BIG is an amazing talent and his morning show is solid, successful and appeals to a wide demographic of listeners. It’s the only nationally syndicated hip-hop morning show and will be an excellent platform for music, movies, television and sports stars. BIG BOY will continue to broadcast out of our LOS ANGELES studios. We’re very happy for BIG BOY and his staff' they deserve it!”
"This is a great opportunity," BIG BOY stated. "People have talked to me in the past and presented opportunities, but I didn’t feel like the timing was right until now. We’ve got a great show and I’m very excited to work with ABC and have our show broadcast in other markets."
