August 8, 2007 at 5:45 AM (PT)
Condolences to the famil and friends of long time CLEAR CHANNEL engineer GARY ARMSTRONG, who passed away MONDAY at 49 years of age. GARY worked in several capacities for CLEAR CHANNEL (and preceding companies) throughout the years. He was Chief Engineer in INDIANAPOLIS, MILWAUKEE, CINCINNATI and COLUMBUS OH before joining the corporate team.
GARY was always the first to volunteer for projects. He was on the first plane that landed in BATON ROUGE after HURRICANE KATRINA, where he built temporary studios for the UNITED RADIO BROADCASTERS, fixed generators, engineered shows, and helped keep people informed. GARY battled cancer twice in his life, beating it 13 years ago, but ultimately succumbing to the recurrence that happened late last year.
He leaves behind his wife JUDY and 16 year old daughter JOSIE. Per his request, there will be no service. Since GARY requested there be no Memorial Service, and in lieu of sending flowers to the family, an educational fund has been set up for his daughter, JOSIE BETH ARMSTRONG. If you would like to donate to the fund, please make checks payable to KEYBANK and write JOSIE BETH ARMSTRONG EDUCATIONAL FUND in the memo. Please write for deposit only on the back of your check. This fund will remain open until SEPTEMBER 30, 2007. The address is KEYBANK - JOSIE BETH ARMSTRONG Educational Fund, 5790 E. 131 Street - Suite 160, CARMEL, IN 46033
