KCRW To Preserve Live Performances on BluWave Audio

Public KCRW/SANTA MONICA has agreed to partner with Universal Studios BluWave Audio to archive and perserve the station's collection of over 1,2000 live recordings.
"The live performances are the crown jewels of the collection," KCRW GM RUTH SEYMOUR told CMJ. "They are exclusive to KCRW and they go back two decades...The partnership came about when [BluWave Dir./Audio Restoration and Preservation] TOM REGAL read an article about KCRW's Campaign to Save the Music Library. He then went to KCRW.com where he saw pictures of the library and called me personally to say he was interested in the project. An unexpected gift is the fact that TOM himself is a musician, so he will be able to recommend some of the particular performances that have musical relevance today as well as those of special historical importance."
