As first rumored on ALL ACCESS (NET NEWS 7/30) reality comes home as CBS Sports WFAN-A/NEW YORK announced today that former NFL quarterback and veteran CBS SPORTS broadcaster BOOMER ESIASON and CRAIG CARTON, afternoon co-host on MILLENIUM Talk WKXW (NEW JERSEY 101.5)/TRENTON, have been named as hosts of BOOMER AND CARTON IN THE MORNING, to be broadcast weekday mornings. The pair’s debut broadcast will be on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4.
"My post-football career has offered me many opportunities I never dreamed of, and this one being among the most extraordinary," said ESIASON. "As a native NEW YORKER, a sports fan and an avid radio listener myself, I am thrilled about joining the WFAN family and its storied history. To be able to speak to the people of NEW YORK about an array of topics on a daily basis is very inspiring and something I am truly looking forward to."
"Returning to my sports roots is something I’m very much looking forward to, and it’s an honor and a privilege to be joining WFAN working alongside someone of BOOMER’s stature," said CARTON. "There’s no denying the straightforward, no-nonsense approach to the format is what sets it apart from all others and what listeners demand from the station’s personalities. In this town you better respect the audience’s credibility if you’re going to have any chance of succeeding. BOOMER and I will absolutely keep that top of mind as we move forward."
"This pairing allows us to have the best of both worlds, delivering a show the WFAN audience has come to expect from a station such as ours," said VP/Programming-OM MARK CHERNOFF. "In BOOMER, we have one of the best-known N.Y. sports personalities who speaks from real life experience. And CRAIG’s broadcasting abilities have enabled him to draw an audience bigger than that of any other afternoon FM Talk show host today. Sports enthusiasts and even those who aren’t will enjoy the banter between BOOMER and CRAIG as they offer their take on sports and how it applies to the world beyond it."
