Miami's Ticket, Dolphins' Taylor Fighting Over Promos, Cancelled Show

The company programming Sports WAXY-A (790 THE TICKET)/MIAMI will sue MIAMI DOLPHINS star JASON TAYLOR for backing out of a deal to do a FRIDAY afternoon show for the station -- after the station aired promos making fun of the team.
The MIAMI HERALD's BARRY JACKSON reports that TAYLOR's representative RALPH STRINGER says TAYLOR was offended by promos for the station's "fake" DOLPHINS pre-game show (THE TICKET lost the rights to game broadcasts to crosstown BEASLEY Sports WQAM-A this season). The promos said that because the team hasn't made the NFL playoffs in five years, "the DOLPHINS don't deserve a real pre-game show. So we're giving them a fake one."
STRINGER told JACKSON, "To do a show like you condone that, it was not the thing to do.... How can you represent the team and do a show where they're saying the team is not good enough to deserve a show? It's hypocritical. This is his livelihood. You have to be loyal to teammates or it can create dissension."
THE TICKET's JOEL FEINBERG says he was "surprised" by TAYLOR's reaction and added "This isn't a personal issue toward him and the DOLPHINS. JASON is a friend of the station. We've done a lot together for his charities. All I'm doing is protecting my business. You have a binding contract -- you can't just say I'm not going to do it and not give any other alternatives."
