Country Radio To Get Garth

A major press-conference was held at the RENNAISANCE HOTEL in NASHVILLE, with the spotlight on Country superstar GARTH BROOKS. Introduced by BIG MACHINE CEO/President SCOTT BORCHETTA, BROOKS casually walked onstage and greeted the press. BROOKS, looking trim and fit, confirmed the rumors that his first single in several years, "More Than a Memory," will be shipped to Country radio AUGUST 27th as part of a greatest hits package, "Ultimate Hits."
The single is one of three newly recorded songs to be included on the 33-song package to arrive at retail on NOVEMBER 6th called "Ultimate Hits." The new music will be taken to radio by BORCHETTA's BIG MACHINE label, and SCOTT cleared up any rumors that he had signed the superstar immediately by saying, "We did not sign him, we have agreed to represent GARTH."
The other two songs include the HUEY LEWIS hit, "Working For a Living," and another track called "Midnight Sun." When one of the press corps asked how GARTH could justify re-packaging another set of hits that most of his fans already had, BROOKS calmly surprised the crowd by saying that the set of 33-songs will be priced at only $11-$14.
The press did not get to hear the new single; however many radio programmers in town got to sample the new music and in the halls the chatter was beyond positive. Programmers that normally offer up, "not bad," "it's okay," about new music were genuinely, very excited.
BROOKS and wife, TRISHA YEARWOOD are both part of the BIG MACHINE label now. When asked about his slim and trim looks, BROOKS quipped, "I have to represent myself as best I can, remember I am Mr. YEARWOOD now."
