Sports Format Arrives At KILE/Houston

KILE-A/HOUSTON has launched its long-planned flip to Sports as 1560 THE GAME under new owner DAVID GOW, GM RICHARD TOPPER and PD/morning host JOHN GRANATO (late of crosstown CBS Sports KILT-A). A call-letter change to KGOW is planned. The station is simulcasting nighttime programming on crosstown SIGA BROADCASTING CORP. Spanish Tropical KLVL-A/PASADENA-HOUSTON 7-10p to help fill in areas not served by KILE's present signal, and KLVL will carry THE GAME's programming 10p-6a solo until KILE gets its new night signal up and running.
As previously reported, GRANATO is doing mornings, with CHRONICLE writer RICHARD JUSTICE doing 10a-Noon and CHRONICLE columnist KEN HOFFMAN on Noon-2p, former JIM ROME "SMACKOFF" winner SEAN PENDERGAST and football analyst JOHN HARRIS in afternoons, WESTWOOD ONE's DON AND MIKE in evenings, and syndicated SPORTS BYLINE USA and SPORTS OVERNIGHT AMERICA overnights.
