ISLAND recording artists FALL OUT BOY traveled to AFRICA for the first time last month, and filmed a video with director ALLEN FERGUSON in UGANDA for their upcoming single “Me & You,” in partnership with the non-profit organization INVISIBLE CHILDREN, an organization dedicated to curbing the problem of children being abducted and pressed into service as child soldiers in the rebel LRA (Lord's Resistance Army).
“FALL OUT BOY has become INVISIBLE CHILDREN's model for bands that truly use their talent and resources to make a difference,” said JASON RUSSELL, co-founder and filmmaker of "Invisible Children," the 2003 documentary that first exposed the problem. “Not only do they raise awareness about the war here... but they have brought their sincere compassion full-circle by visiting NORTHERN UGANDA. PETE WENTZ was the spark that started the fire, and now the entire band and thousands of their fans are becoming a part of the cause.”
WENTZ said, "Maybe it's because people have been focusing so much attention on our band lately ... and lots of times the wrong kind of attention. It's alright if the cameras follow us ... to AFRICA."
