KLSD Rumors Spark Protest

A group of listeners to CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KLSD-A/SAN DIEGO is rallying TONIGHT (8/27) outside the station's studios to protest the rumored format change of the station to Sports from the present liberal talk format. The group, "SAVEKLSD," hopes to replicate the success a listener group had in MADISON, WI to prevent a similar flip.
For its part, the station acknowledges the rumors, but appears to be encouraging listeners to voice their support for liberal talk in the market: at the station's website, a page headlined "The Rumor Mill Is Churning..." reads "KLSD thanks all of our listeners for your recent concern and support regarding rumors circulating about a possible format change with AM 1360. While various options are under consideration, we want the progressive voice to remain heard loud and clear in SAN DIEGO. Please feel free to send us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org and express your thoughts and opinions. Thank you for listening and supporting your local Progressive Talk Station."
And a banner at the top of the station's home page reads "RUMORS YES, there are rumors flying about KLSD changing format. While various options are under consideration, we also want the progressive voice to remain heard in SAN DIEGO. Stay tuned and we will keep you informed. Thanks for listening and supporting KLSD." Is "XTRA SPORTS 1360" a real plan, or is KLSD looking to pump up the present format on 1360, or move it to an FM HD subchannel?
