FCC Opens Data From Ownership Statistical Studies For Public Review
September 6, 2007 at 10:28 AM (PT)
The FCC has adopted procedures to allow any interested parties to see the proprietary portions of data sets created by the authors of the media studies commissioned in connection with the ongoing quadrennial review of media ownership rules.
The data is, however, being released only under a protective order that will track review of the data, and users will need to get licenses from the licensors of the underlying proprietary data to evaluate the results of the studies and/or to develop other studies that will contribute to the record in this proceeding. Some of the data requires familiarity with certain statistical software, sych as S+, SAS, and STATA.
