KRQR Fights Chico City Ordinance On Partying

RESULTS Active Rock KRQR (Z-ROCK)/CHICO is making a lot of static about a proposed city partying ordinance. The station spent the day broadcasting live outside of CHICO CITY HALL, urging listeners and passers-by to sign a petition against the ordinance.
The radio station first got involved with the ordinance a few months ago. In the ordinance’s original form, it contained a provision against slam dancing. This caused a huge uproar with their listeners. Even though the slam dancing provisions have been removed, the station has continued to criticize the ordinance. They say it is too vague and gives police too much authority.
"It’s giving the police, in our opinion, too much power," said morning rock dude BJ. "They say they won’t abuse it. Then why do they need it so bad? It’s kind of our whole goal -- whether or not you’re for it or against it; we just want to get people involved."
Z-ROCK staffers say they have already gathered more than 200 signatures for their petition.
