LARRY JENKINS, who consulted CBS during the development and launch of the newly formed CBS RECORDS, was named EVP/GM of the label, reports MEDIAWEEK. JENKINS will oversee the strategy of the label as well as managing the creative and business operations and leading the A&R process.
JENKINS is a familiar face in the music and entertainment industries, having most recently headed his own management and consultancy firm, L J ENTERTAINMENT, since 2004. Prior to that, he was SVP/Marketing & Media for COLUMBIA RECORDS. JENKINS previously worked in similar capacities at CAPITOL RECORDS and ARISTA RECORDS.
CBS RECORDS was launched by CBS in DECEMBER 2006. The label is focused on building a roster of artists whose music will be integrated into television series and promotional spots airing on CBS and the CW networks, as well as CBS’s other media assets, such as SHOWTIME and CBS INTERACTIVE (including CBS MOBILE and LAST.FM).
To date, CBS RECORDS has signed seven artists, and its first wave of releases scheduled for the fall include CDs from BOSTON-based singer/songwriter WILL DAILEY ("Backflipping Forward" due 10/2) and P.J. OLSSON ("American Scream" due 10/16).
