FCC Actions: Fine For Late License Application Renewal; Reversal Of NCE FM Grant
October 3, 2007 at 11:01 AM (PT)
The FCC has issued a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture for $500 to AMERICAN RIVER FOLK SOCIETY for filing a late license renewal application for low power KFOK-LP/GEORGETOWN, CA, but granted the station's renewal.
In addition, the Commission granted in part a Petition to Deny the tentative grant of a new noncommercial educational FM in KANEOHE, HI to MAKA'AINANA BROADCASTING CORP. by CALVARY CHAPEL OF HONOLULU on the basis that MBC should not receive credit for being an "established local applicant." The petitioner claimed, and the Commission agreed, that MBC's local presence in HONOLULU was as a paper company and its "offices" were not identified as such by employees and signage at the site. MBC has been given thirty days to produce evidence of activity at the local office to show that it has earned the "established local applicant" status.
