I'm Gettin' Sued?
The music publisher which owns the copyright to the "PINOCCHIO" classic song "WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR" has sued TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX, FOX BROADCASTING, CARTOON NETWORK, SETH MACFARLANE and his FUZZY DOOR PRODUCTIONS, composer WALTER MURPHY, and others over a parody song on "FAMILY GUY" that it claims infringed on the familiar tune.
BOURNE CO. says that the song "I NEED A JEW," sung by character PETER GRIFFIN on the infamous "WHEN YOU WISH UPON A WEINSTEIN" episode of the popular cartoon series, is a thinly-veiled copy of the "PINOCCHIO" song and turns it into an anti-Semitic song. The episode was not initially aired by FOX in the show's original run, but was aired by CARTOON NETWORK's ADULT SWIM in 2003 and has appeared on a DVD release. The suit seeks unspecified damages and a halt to distribution of the episode.
