CAB Honors Slaight With Gold Ribbon

The CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS will honor STANDARD BROADCASTING Pres./CEO GARY SLAIGHT with its 2007 Gold Ribbon Award for Broadcast Excellence at a NOVEMBER 5th gala in OTTAWA.
"GARY SLAIGHT is an outstanding broadcaster who has built bridges for the radio industry with communities across the country," said CAB Pres./CEO GLENN O'FARRELL. "Building on the remarkable legacy of his father, ALLAN SLAIGHT, GARY led STANDARD with panache and substance culminating in the instrumental role he played in concluding the transaction with ASTRAL MEDIA INC., which is now complete. His unique operating style and profound passion for music have served emerging and established Canadian talent. In addition, GARY has always demonstrated a deep personal commitment to the support of charitable causes within communities across CANADA."
In addition, the CAB announced nine new inductees to its BROADCAST HALL OF FAME. The new inductees, to be honored at a special luncheon at the CAB's annual convention NOVEMBER 6th, include RADIO NORD COMMUNICATIONS Pres./CEO RAYNALD BRIERE, former ROGERS MEDIA exec and CHEZ/OTTAWA founder HARVEY GLATT, CFRN-TV-A-F/WINNIPEG exec BRUCE HOGLE, ROGERS Soft AC CKCL (104.9 CLEAR FM)/VANCOUVER morning co-host FRED LATREMOUILLE, former POWER BROADCASTING Pres. DONALD LAWRIE, NEW BRUNSWICK broadcaster BOB LOCKHART, the late radio and TV pioneer RAI PURDY, the late CJAD-A and CFQR/MONTREAL and CHML-A/HAMILTON personality PAUL REID, and ALLIANCE ATLANTIS CEO PHYLLIS YAFFE.
